Great big gobs of fermented probiotic donkey milk. You probably don’t want to read this technical research abstract in the Journal of Food Science, so let us give you a Reader’s Digest condensed version: Researchers are looking at fermented donkey milk as an alternative to cow’s milk for those with lactose intolerance. Hee-haw!

Gulp. Niagara Bottling is recalling some of its bottled water after E. coli was detected in its water source. Affected water was bottled at the company’s two Pennsylvania facilities between June 10 and June 18. Via Food Safety News.

Feeding the homeless. A nonprofit service called Feeding Forward in the San Francisco Bay Area is helping thousands of people by getting them the food they need. The company uses its website and a mobile app to match leftover food from businesses to homeless shelters. Genius. Via CNET.
