Washington County (Pa.) 4-H’er Erin Rice thought her long-stemmed pumpkin was just right to turn into an elephant for the Chesapeake Energy Giant Pumpkin contest Oct. 3 in Washington, Pa.

Ridgeview Farm, located in Mesopotamia Township, Trumbull County, SR 87, hosts fall fun weekends Sept. 26 thru Oct. 28 from noon to 5, and it’s lots of fun, as these pumpkin painters discovered.

A small but energetic group participated in the Pa. Holstein Association’s junior judging school, hosted July 9-10, in Beaver-Lawrence counties. The junior judges placed 12 classes and worked on reasons and public speaking during their 24 hours together.
