A good example

I would like you to think about a special person in your life who has been a very good example to you. Take a moment and think today how they have been a good example to you.

Perhaps that person no longer lives on this earth because they have gone to be with the Lord. However, their example still lives on. They left with you a good example that blesses your life even today.

I believe the greatest gift you can leave your family is a good example. I have heard it said by some people that when they leave this world their family will be fixed for life because of the financial security they are leaving them.

That sounds good however; financial security only works as long as it is there. Perhaps we are guilty of leaving the wrong impression to others that financial security is the answer to all our problems.

Lyn Claybook says, “There can be no security in this world until men and nations put God right in the center and at the very heart of life.” When we put God first in our lives our example lives on.

The Bible says in I Tim. 4:12, “Be thou an example of the believer in word, in conversation, in loves, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”

I often think about my parents and grandparents. They were all good people and left behind a good example for me and the rest of our family.

That does not mean we always agreed on everything. However, the things of life that really count such as good morals, faith in God, good citizenship, love for neighbors and friends, honesty and respect for God and country and much more have been passed down to us by good examples of others.

We may not realize it at times; however all of us are an example in one way or another.

Are others seeing the beauty of Christ in your life? “Nothing is so infectious as examples” said Charles Kingsley.

It is my prayer that when my life is completed on this earth, that my family and friends will remember me as a good example to others for the glory of God.

In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us. Titus 2:7-8.
