Hello again!
It is time once again for the big yellow school bus to start rolling down the road. Parents everywhere will be reminding their children to “Hurry up and eat your breakfast. You better not miss that bus. Don’t forget your lunch or lunch money.”
Sound familiar? As a mother, I feel like I am always reminding the children and my husband to do something. One often wonders how they will survive on their own without me there to remind them of everything they need to do.
Oh, they will and it will be just fine but for now, the reminders continue. I guess you can’t take the mother out of a person because as a county executive director, I feel the need to remind producers of a few upcoming deadlines.
SURE deadline
Producers have until Sept. 30 to submit an application for payment under the 2008 Supplemental Revenue Assistance Payments Program. There are no provisions for late-file applications. Applications not filed by COB September 30, regardless of the reasons why, will not receive a payment because of lack of funding.
SURE provides financial assistance for crop production and or quality losses due to a natural disaster. Producers are encouraged to file an application for 2008 SURE payments regardless of whether they think they may or may not qualify.

The deadline for 2009 production certification to comply with ACRE has been extended until September 1. The extension is for completing both the farm benchmark yield (2004 through 2008) and the actual farm yield (2009). Participants in the 2009 ACRE program must certify their yields by September 1 to remain eligible for ACRE benefits.
Announcement
The USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service announced that it has certified a petition for catfish under the Trade Adjustment Assistance for Farmers program. U.S. asparagus and catfish producers nationwide have until Sept. 23 to apply for training and benefits.
The TAA for Farmers Program provides technical training and cash benefits to eligible U.S. producers and fishermen of raw agricultural commodities whose crops or catch have been adversely affected by imports of like or directly competitive commodities.
Individual asparagus and catfish producers nationwide interested in applying for technical training and cash benefits must complete and submit a written application to their local Farm Service Agency office by Sept. 23.
