Hello again!

County fairs are winding down and an early harvest has begun. Some farmers may actually be done with harvest by Halloween this year instead of Thanksgiving, and get to enjoy a relaxing Thanksgiving meal with family and friends!

The Ohio Farm Service Agency (FSA) would like to remind dairy producers that currently no legislation has been enacted to extend the Milk Income Loss Contract (MILC) program past Sept. 30, 2012, as provided by the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008.

USDA’s Milk Income Loss Contract Program (MILC), administered by FSA, compensates dairy producers when domestic milk prices fall below a specified level. The application deadline to sign-up for MILC program benefits was Sept. 30.

Final production evidence and any supporting documentation for eligible months (this includes the 2009, 2010 and 2012 fiscal years) that MILC was in effect must be submitted by Nov. 1, 2012.

Dairy operations can obtain more information on MILC by contacting your local FSA office.

That’s all for now,

FSA Andy
