Hello Again!
Just a little reminder since the deadline is almost upon us — if you are interested in purchasing or continuing NAP coverage on your forage for hay and/or pasture for 2011, the last day to apply or send in your fees is Nov. 20.
If you have had the coverage previously and are not changing your hay type(s), you only need to send in the required fee, which is $250 per hay type to your local FSA Office.
If you have never purchased NAP before, you need to stop in the office to sign the application, and pay your fees.
Also, for those of you who did have hay insurance for 2010, you are probably done with your hay harvest. So while the figures are still fresh in your mind, now is the time to submit your production to the FSA office.
If your harvest is complete and you did not file a loss on your hay, a certification of your production such as total tons harvested, or bale numbers along with bale weights on a CCC-452 is acceptable.
The records must be provided in a manner that is easily understood by the FSA county committee. However, this certification must be supported by an acceptable record of production and retained for a period of at least three years.
Submission of the records is not required unless you are selected for spot check. It is important to submit your production in order to maintain the actual production history and approved yield record on your hay.
Your acreage report and your production report are combined to calculate your approved yield. This approved yield may be calculated using substantially reduced yield data if you do not report your acreage and production.
Any reduction in your yield due to failure to turn in your production can possibly affect you in the future, should you have to file a loss.
