Hazard A Guess – Week of Dec. 14, 2000

by Farm and Dairy Staff

Hello from Hazard.

Two guesses on Item No. 609 – and two different responses.

Joe Betz of Library, Pa., who admits it’s a tough one, is hazard-ing a guess that it’s a stitcher or binder of some kind, probably for book binding. On the other hand, Janica Powers of Canfield, Ohio, is guessing it’s a piece of equipment used to make cardboard egg cartons.

Since owner Tom Dolence of Martins Ferry, Ohio, doesn’t know what it is, we’ll give it a whirl one more week to see what the mail unfolds. The hint for this week is the writing on the item: “Self-Locking Carton, Co. Division of Shellmar Products corporation.” That should shed a huge beacon of light for all you guessers.

Let us know what you think it is by sending a note to: Hazard a Guess, P.O. Box 38, Salem, OH 44460; or via e-mail to: editorial@farmanddairy.com.

Don’t forget you can log on to www.farmanddairy.com and see the Hazard a Guess pictures you’ve missed in the last month. You can also submit a guess from our new Web site.

Until next week…
