Hello from an overstuffed Hazard!

We hope your Thanksgiving was filled with good food and good friends and family. There is much to be thankful for.

To recap, Item No. 697 received two guesses – and, of course, they’re both different. Barb Dorman of Salem, Ohio, says it’s used to measure lengths and widths of livestock hooves. Milton Lorens of Amherst, Ohio, says it’s used to take tires off early clincher-type rims, a part of life before 1925.

We received nothing in the mailbag to confirm or refute either guess, so we’ll just move on.

Item No. 698 is another “unknown” from reader Randy Winland of Prospect, Ohio. I’ll be nice this week and give you a hint. It’s marked with the words, “Fisher Manufacturing Co.” and “Lincoln Nebraska.”

That should be enough to get you researchers moving if you don’t know what it is at first glance.
