Hazard A Guess: Week of Feb. 14, 2001

Hello from Hazard!

There were a couple more notes this week identifying Item No. 638, the clamp used to lift jars out of hot water when canning. But the mail has been completely silent on Item No. 639, the bottle-type contraption we unveiled last week.

Benjamin McVay wrote all the way from Lumberton, N.C., to identify the jar lifting clamp. And we also heard from Paul Myers of Hebron, Ohio, who says he has three out in the barn.

Since there were no guesses on Item 639 we are running it again this week to give you more time to figure it out. Somebody must know what it was used for.
