Hazard A Guess: Week of July 12, 2001

Hello from Hazard!

Jeepers, creepers, you must be a bunch of sleepers! No mail, no guesses, no ideas were to be found this week, so we show Item No. 624 again this week.

I’ll give you a slight hint, not the whole hint. Stamped into the metal canister on the end are three words (which I’ll reveal next week if no one guesses this week), then “Klotz Mfg. Co., Chicago, Ill., patent 1911.” As we mentioned last week, it’s about 30 inches long overall and the handle is wooden.

Owner Keith Painter of Louisville, Ohio, has received lots of guesses as to its use, but he wants to hear from Hazard-ites.

Send your ideas to: Hazard a Guess, P.O. Box 38, Salem, OH 44460; or via e-mail to: editorial@farmanddairy.com.

If you’ve loaned your copy of Farm and Dairy to a friend, you can still see the past four weeks’ Hazard items online at www.farmanddairy.com. Click on the “Hazard a Guess” link in the listing along the left side. Of course, you can find a whole lot more at our Web site, too!
