Hazard A Guess: Week of July 5, 2001

Hello from Hazard!

Well, the heat must have either addled your brains or sent you into hibernation, because we received only one guess on Item No. 623, which was an unknown item we’ve shown for the past two weeks.

We’ll give you the guess and let you be the judge. Rebecca Pierce of Kingsville, Ohio, is the long brave soul who took this stab: She thinks it’s an old pop bottle opener on some kind of stand. Just for fun, we’ll show it one more week.

Our new item is a fun one sent in by Keith Painter of Louisville, Ohio. I say “fun” because it has a rather interesting name stamped on the metal canister on the end. Ah, but I can’t tell you what it is until we get really befuddled. Painter admits that even with the words on the canister, no one still seems to know what the thing was used for.

The item has a wooden handle and is about 30 inches long.

Be brave and send in a guess: P.O. Box 38, Salem, OH 44460; or via e-mail to: editorial@farmanddairy.com.
