Hazard A Guess – Week of Nov. 9, 2000

Hello from Hazard!

Slim pickin’s from the mailbag. We only heard from Jake Kozma of Broadview Heights, Ohio, regarding Item No. 606, which we’ve featured here for the past two weeks.

Now, Mr. Kozma and I thought along the same lines when we looked at the item – we both said it was used as a darner (put it inside the sock to mend it more easily). We still may be right. But the thing that threw me, which I didn’t share with you readers, is that there was a very fine marking on the “barbell” that said “1/2 lb.”

Can anyone confirm our guess or put another spin on it?

We’ll show Item No. 606 one more week, along with Item No. 607, which measures 16 inches long and is 41/2 inches at its widest. Any guesses?
