Hello from Hazard!
Item No. 631 finally garnered a few guesses, but at least they were correct guesses, so that’s all that matters.
A. Anderson of Chagrin Falls (whose e-mail address verifies that the reader is a “horse nut) tells us Item No. 631 is a “sweat scraper,” used to scrape off excess sweat from horses as well as water after a horse bath. Anderson adds the item is still most definitely in use – they come in wood, plastic and aluminum – and also make great “play swords” for children!
Also identifying the item correctly was Nancy Zagin from Mantua, Ohio.
On to Item No. 632, which – alas! – is another item the sender cannot identify, so Hazard to the rescue. Troy Pratt of Weirton, W.Va., tells us the dog and saddle move up and down the shaft about 8 inches and turn half way around. What do you think it is used for?
