Think About It: Love One Another

Are we forgetting the words of Jesus found in Galatians 5:14?

“All the law is fulfilled in one word, even this: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”

Have you forgotten just how much Jesus loves us and gave His life for us?

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but having everlasting life,” John 3:16.

Real love cares about others. We can say to someone, “I love you,” however, “action speaks louder than words.”

For example, I have a friend whose name is Jerry Dietrick. I was Jerry’s, and his wife Kathy’s, pastor for about 13 years before I retired. Jerry and Kathy are the kind of people who minister to others by being there for them and going the second mile if needed.

They are the kind of people who keep their word and do their best to lend a helping hand when needed.

For example, Jerry was Mr. Fix-it at our church. His work was always done right, and you could count on him. His wife, Kathy, has a beautiful singing voice, and she was always willing to minister to others with her gift of music.

I read a quote by Lawrence P. Jacks which read, “Nobody will know what you mean by saying that ‘God is love’ unless you act it as well.”

I have always noticed that love is something you cannot hide, however the lack of it is very obvious. Can you imagine the difference in our world if we could reverse all the hate and turn it into love for one another?

Love is the true testimony of the child of God. “He that loveth not, knoweth not God for God is love,” I John 4:8.

Nothing takes the place of real love. “Perfect love casteth out fear,” I John 4:18.

Take time daily to show your love to your family and friends and the world around you. You and your world will be glad you did.

Life is like a journey taken on a train

With two fellow travelers at each window pane:

I may sit beside you all the journey through

Or I may sit elsewhere, never knowing you;

But should fate mark me to side by your side,

Let’s be pleasant travelers, ‘tis so short a ride.
