THE COUNTY FAIR

It’s fair time once again. It just seems like we just completed fair time 2011, and here we are, once again, in the middle of fair time 2012. Fair time is an exciting time when people young and old alike enjoy going to their favorite county fair.

Our family usually attends the Canfield Fair in Canfield, Ohio. We all enjoy going at least once during fair week. I, personally, enjoy the tractors, livestock, and the many vendors with all their different items for sale and display. My wife, Myrna, enjoys the quilts, baked goods, and all the other displays. The nice thing about it is we go together and enjoy each other’s interests.

I have a lot of Canfield Fair memories from my childhood. My parents used to pack a picnic lunch and take our family to the fair for the entire day. We all enjoyed it, and by the end of the day, we were tired and ready to go home. We made fair day a special family day. I sure miss those days gone by. Sir John Bowring once stated, “The happy family is but an earlier heaven.”

It will not be long until fair time 2012 will once again be history. Take time out and enjoy the beautiful days of summer while they last. There is no better way to do it then spending a day at the fair.

The fair is just one more reminder of God’s great creation. The vegetables, animals, and all the many talents of many different people are just reminders of God’s great love and the beauty of His creation.

Take time today to make plans to enjoy your favorite fair. If you are going to the Canfield Fair, I would like you to stop and visit me in the hay and grain barn at the Farm and Dairy booth. We will even give you a free Farm and Dairy newspaper!
