“Therefore whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them for this is the Law and the Prophets,” Matthew 7:12.
How easy it is to forget the Golden Rule. Recently, I have been writing often about subjects that I believe could change our world and make it better; today I am writing about the Golden Rule.
I believe if we would practice living by the Golden Rule we would live in harmony with one another more so than we are doing in today’s world. Living by the Golden Rule develops better homes and families. It makes life happier in our neighborhoods, churches, schools, and places of business, communities and our world.
Living by the Golden Rule makes us stop and think before we speak and act. Things like gossip would disappear if we practiced living by the golden rule.
If we live by the golden rule, it will strengthen our character. When the late J.P. Morgan was asked what he considered the best bank collateral, he replied, “CHARACTER.”
When I was a young boy growing up I used to hear more mentioned about the “Golden Rule” than I do today. My parents and grandparents and even my school teachers would remind us about living by the “Golden Rule.”
“Character building begins in our infancy and continues until death,” said Eleanor Roosevelt.
Living by the “Golden Rule” is a way of life. It is a part of your identity and character. My parents and grandparents were good examples of way of life. My wife and I have tried to pass this way of living on to our children and grandchildren.
It thrills us to see this character in their lives today. “As he thinketh in his heart, so is he,” Prov. 23:7.
Today I sum it up by reminding all of us including myself. If we want to be treated with kindness, courtesy and understanding then we must treat others the same. It is the only way to really enjoy living.

Live by the Golden Rule, you will be glad you did.
