YOUR CHOICE

“If you are willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land” Isa. 1:19.

Here is a choice that God gives us. He says in His Holy Word “if you are willing and obedient,” in other words it is your choice. If you do the right things in life you will be rewarded not only on this earth but also on the day of judgment.

“But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again, and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the highest; for he is kind unto the thankful and to the evil” Luke 6:35.

Can you imagine what it would be like in our world if we would ask God to help us make the right choices in life? I have listed some of the things that would make life better if we would be obedient to God and make the right choices.

For example, obey the speed limits, stop on red and go on green, pray and ask God for His will for your life before marriage, love your enemies, do not even think about trying to get away with crime, obey your parents … this list is never ending and I have only mentioned just a few things.

I guess I could sum it up by saying to obey God’s laws throughout the Bible and do your very best to obey the laws of the land. Here again we have a choice to make. It is your choice.

“To do or not to do; to have or not to have, I leave to thee. Thy only will be done in me; all my requests are lost in one, Father, Thy will be done!” — Charles Wesley.

I have heard it said more than once by many others including myself, “If I could only do it over again, I would chose differently.”

I think most people would agree that we have all been there at one time or another in our life and because we failed to make the right choice, we learned a great lesson from it.

“Wise men ne’er sit and wail their loss but cheerily seek how to redress them” — William Shakespeare.

When we make a wrong choice and are willing to go to God in prayer with an honest and sincere heart He will be our help and guide.

“The Lord is nigh to all them that call upon him;’ to all that call upon Him in truth” Psalm 145:18.

It is always important that we seek God in prayer before we make our decisions and choices throughout our lives.

“If ye abide in me and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will and it shall be done unto you” John 15:7. It is your choice.

  1. Thank you George for the article. I am a writer who has studied the Wesleyan movement in 18th Century UK for some time. So much so that I am currently writing a novel about Francis Asbury. I enjoyed your article, especially the Charles Wesley quote.
