The former Iowa governor is a good choice. Some of the more left leaning of us are upset that he is not from the 'tofu' crowd, but the president-elect realizes that the ag secretary must represent that portion of American agriculture that feeds the vast majority of us.

And this commentary today (12/24) from the New York Times: Food-system reformers are hoping Obama's desire to improve world hunger, and his stances on climate change, energy and health care will also mean changes within the ag system. http://bit.ly/vkCh (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/24/dining/24food.html?pagewanted=1)

Dear Susan,
If you think President Obama wants to increase world hunger, I think you need to resign and get help. -
Today is deadline day, so I can't resign today... but I said "improve world hunger" not increase world hunger. "Improve" meaning hopefully abate. But I see how the word probably wasn't the best choice. Many days, I need all the help I can get. Thanks for the gentle reminder.

I guess my response was influenced by your past articles and apoligize for the misinterpretation.
When I see the challenges that face the future small farmers I feel we need to give them information that is focused on helping them and not the mega-farms,also I feel we need to promote legislation in the same mannner.
The majority of your subscribers are and always have been of modest means and that is the segment of agriculture we need to preserve.
