The tour will include 3 historic homes and 1 garden. Starting point is the Richfield Fellowship Hall, located at 3903 Broadview Road. There will be an ongoing complimentary tea at Fellowship Hall for participants, the Historic Museum of Richfield will be open during the tour as will a number of local businesses, and a plant swap/sale will take place on the grounds of Fellowship Hall. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 the day of the tour. An optional box lunch may be purchased in advance for $6. Lunches will include a croissant sandwich — choice of ham, turkey or vegetarian — coleslaw, fruit, chips, dessert and drink. Participants are advised to wear comfortable shoes (no spiked heels are allowed in the homes). No children under age 12 are allowed on the tour, and it is not wheelchair accessible. The tour will be held “rain or shine”.
To purchase advance tickets and lunch, if desired, send appropriate payment — $10 for tour ticket and $6 for boxed lunch (check made payable to “Richfield Town Trust”), along with a stamped, self-addressed envelope, to Historic Home & Garden Tour, Richfield Town Trust, 4300 W. Streetsboro Road, Richfield 44286. If ordering lunch, be sure to indicate choice of sandwich as detailed above. The deadline for advance ticket sales and purchase of lunch (must be pre-ordered) is June 9. Advance tickets are also available at Countryside Florist, Richfield Auto and ScripType Publishing. They may also be purchased via PayPal through the Richfield Historical Society’s website “www.richfieldohiohistoricalsociety.org”.
An “old-fashioned” plant swap/sale will also be held the day of the tour, 11 a.m. to sellout, on the grounds of the Fellowship Hall. Individuals may bring perennial plants or houseplants (divided or cuttings) in waterproof containers. All plants must be identified and labeled accordingly. For those who don’t have anything to “swap”, plants will be available for purchase at nominal cost.
