Are you running a cabin fever and suffering from the winter blues? The Richfield Historical Society has just the cure – take a dose of the Cabin Fever Tour on Saturday, March 21, 2015 and travel along a 12 mile stretch of Route 303 through the gently rolling hills of Hinckley, Richfield and Peninsula to visit treasure houses of local history, art, antiques, handcrafting items, jewelry and much more. Enjoy food for the body and soul as well.

A map listing tour participants’ locations and hours can be picked up at the Historical Museum of Richfield, located at 3907 Broadview Road, which will be open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. that day or any of the locations listed below. A listing of tour participants may also be found online at www.richfieldohiohistoricalsociety.org. Establishments that will open their doors for special events and sales in Richfield include Benedict’s Antiques, Country Maid Ice Cream, Countryside Florist (stop in and get a free flower), Farnam Manor (special tour offer), Historical Museum of Richfield (enter into a raffle for a special gift basket with any purchase from the museum gift shop), John Muni Jewelers (tour participants receive a free watch battery), P.O.C.’s Pierogi Market (visit them for a free pierogi sample), Polka Dot Pincushion, Richfield Branch Library (check out their book sale), Somerville Antiques, and the Taverne of Richfield (open for dinner at 4 p.m.). The 336 acre Crowell Hilaka property will be open for hiking on March 21 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and March 22 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. (use entrance by Giant Eagle on Broadview Road).

To the east in Peninsula – BluEyeDog (check out their winter clearance/light refreshments will be served), Elements Gallery, G.A.R. Hall (8-11 p.m. listen to The Hillbilly Gypsies live), Peninsula Area Chamber of Commerce (Service Member Showcase at G.A.R. Hall from 12-4 p.m.), the Log Cabin Gallery (check out their inventory reduction sales and preview of upcoming work), Trail Mix Peninsula (shop their “So Long to Winter Sale”), Yellow Creek Trading Co. (stop by for preview of spring merchandise/refreshments and visit with baby lambs from Spicy Lamb Farm), the Cuyahoga Valley Historical Museum, and Peninsula Library and Historical Society (1-2:30 p.m. will feature “Behind the Music of the Beatles”) will all be part of the Cabin Fever Tour. To the west in Hinckley, their Historical Society and The Greensmith Garden Center & Gift Shop will also offer some relief for your cabin fever and help dispel those winter blues on March 21.
