Crafters and Artisans are preparing for the 38th. annual Pioneer Craft Days at Beaver Creek State Park on October 3rd and 4th. The hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days. Admission to the festival is free to the public, and free parking is available within the park. Also, available is a handicapped parking area.

During the festival, volunteers will bring the village alive by grinding grain in the only waterpowered grist mill in Columbiana County, demonstrating a working blacksmith”s shop and offering one room schoolhouse programs. There is also a log cabin for viewing homelife in the early 1800s.

Musical entertainment with period music, old time photos with costumes and a rock climbing wall will all be available for visitors to enjoy. Homestyle food will be offered by the Friends of Beaver Creek State Park.

The Pioneer Village is operated and maintained by a non-profit organization, The Friends of Beaver Creek State Park, founded in1963 to restore Gaston’s Mill. The mill was build in 1830. Also restored was an original Sandy and Beaver Canel Lock. The Friends of Beaver Creek State Park do not receive state funds for the upkeep of Pioneer Village. They rely on programs such as Pioneer Craft Days, the semi-annual Civil War re-enactment, and the pancake and sausage breakfast held the 3rd Sunday of each month, May through October.

Beaver Creek State Park is located off state Route 7 north of East Liverpool, Ohio and south of Rogers, Ohio on Echo Dell Road. For more information, visit www.friendsofbeavercreekstatepark.org or call 724-573-9109.
