Today, the Sirna Farm is comprised of 43 acres, and 30 acres of that is woodlands. The Sirnas rent additional acreage and farm a total of 150 acres.

When Dawn and Lee Lichtenwalner left Las Vegas in 2008 to take up permanent residence at their 11-acre Leetonia, Ohio, vacation property, turning it into a full-time farming operation was not part of the plan. Earlier this month, their Dandelion Lane Farm became the first in Ohio recognized by the national Homegrown by Heroes program.
Hogan is also the Ohio coordinator for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program, as well as Ohio State’s Sustainable Agriculture Team.
