BURTON, Ohio — The Geauga Dairymen 4-H club met May 31 at the Hastings Dairy Farm.
After introductions, members discussed old business, and members who went to Dairy Palooza received their quality insurance certificates. The club members were reminded that if their animal is staying at Emma Niehus’, there is a $30 charge and they need to help clean the barn two to three times a week.
Members received candy bars today to sell, and approved a $100 donation to Family Affairs. Members were also reminded of the required July 18 skill-a-thon. The club selected a theme for this year’s fair basket: picnics and barbecues. Club members are encouraged to buy items for the basket if they see something at the store. After the business meeting, members made blankets instead of doing a senior citizen yard cleanup.

BOWERSTOWN, Ohio — The Silver Spurs 4-H club met May 17 at the Bowerstown Public library. There were 23 members present.
Reminders were given for the horse clinic, rabbit tagging, animal still projects and sandlot sports in Jewett, all coming up in June.
Savanna Lilly showed how to prevent diseases with turkeys. Gabby Keller talked about facts involving different kinds of horses and brought in horses as examples. Noel Keller talked about the different types of fish. Natalie Shuss went over how to fill out feed tags in booklets. Codi and Noah Dewees talked about pigs.
The club will meet again on June 14 at the Bowerston Public Library.
