Agland Co-op honors its top dairy customers

SEBRING, Ohio – Agland Co-op held its third annual dairy appreciation and awards banquet Feb. 15 at the Tall Oaks Banquet Center in Sebring, Ohio.

The banquet spotlights producers who use Agland’s feed and nutritional services on their dairy operations.

Trumbull County milk producers Garry and Rita Kibler received the Master Dairyman award, based on milk production, milk quality, increase of rolling herd average and reproductive performance. The Kiblers’ Holstein herd averages 25,181 pounds of milk, 890 pounds of butterfat, and 750 pounds of protein.

Top production awards in the Jersey breed in milk, fat, and protein went to Matt and Ruth Boyce and Family, with a herd average of 14,897 pounds of milk, 890 pounds of butterfat, and 750 pounds of protein.

Top efficiency awards went to Brain and Vicki Cope and Family and Garry and Rita Kibler and Family. The Cope family won with an average bacteria count of 3,500, an average PI count of 5333, and an average somatic cell count of 196,000. The Kibler Family won with an average bacteria count of 2,166 and an average PI count of 5,583.

Following the awards presentations, guest speaker Steven Newman shared his story as the only person in history to have walked solo around the earth. From 1983 to 1987 the journalist trekked across 21 nations on five continents.
