COLUMBUS – Three workshops to explain the Clean Ohio Agricultural Easement Purchase Program will be offered across the state March 22, 26, and 27.

The workshops will be conducted March 22 in Ravenna; March 26 in Washington Court House; and March 27 in Findlay. Sessions at all three locations run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Applications for the Clean Ohio Agricultural Easement Purchase Program are due April 30.

The workshops, coordinated by OSU Extension, will give local public officials, land trusts, landowners and others information regarding the application process and participation.

Registration is $10. Detailed registration information is available on line at http://landuse.osu.edu or by calling 937-454-5002. Deadline is March 15.

The workshops will cover the easement application process, tax and estate planning considerations, how to negotiate an agricultural easement and details regarding the applicant and landowner responsibilities.

The matching program that provides funds for permanently protecting Ohio farmland. The program involves a partnering process: local officials or land trusts will apply to the state for farmland preservation grants on behalf of landowners.

The Ohio Department of Agriculture’s Office of Farmland Preservation is responsible for implementing the program.
