PADUCAH, Ky. – The Aladdin Knights will host several antique lighting clubs at their 29th annual convention in Paducah, Ky., at the Executive Inn from Aug. 2-4.

Members will attend from throughout the United States, Canada, and Australia, Italy and England.

The Aladdin Knights are collectors of Aladdin kerosene mantle lamps and Aladdin electric lamps, however, members have interest and collect other kinds and brands of lamps.

The highlight this year’s gathering will be a display room of rare and unusual lamps, some dating back two centuries. The Rushlight Club will join the Aladdin Knights to hold its summer meeting in Paducah.

Lighting exhibit.

Jane Rausch and Nancy Mattausch and the Rushlight Club will co-sponsor a lighting exhibition and demonstration of the earliest lighting such as rushlights, candles, primitive lamps, whale oil, heavy oils, gas and all types of prekerosene lamps.

Leon and Faye Todd and the Aladdin Knights will complete the lighting display with kerosene lamps through Aladdin mantle lamps and Aladdin electric lamps.

Expert collectors will light these unique lamps and describe their age, fuel and brief history.

Throughout the three-day period, seminars on Aladdin collecting, lamp repair and restoration will be presented by members of the various lighting clubs to share their knowledge and tips for collecting.

Seminar topics also include experts on other collectible kerosene and gas lighting.

Lamp show and sale.

The ballroom will house the largest International Antique Lamp Show and Sale in the country on Saturday, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
