Troth Auctioneering of Ashland, Ohio, held an auction Feb. 14 at the Ashland County Fairgrounds. The sale was called by auctioneer Britton Troth and had 387 registered bidders.
The highest selling item was an ivory statue which sold for $2,400.
Other items included a 1 ounce Krugerand which brought $975; a 1895 S Morgan dollar sold for $360 and the top-selling baseball card went for $385.
The total sales for the marble lots topped $4,000.
Andy Raber Auctioneer of Baltic, Ohio, held an auction Feb. 14 in New Wilmington, Pa. The sale, with 289 registered bidders, was called by Raber and he was assisted by Vernon Yoder.
The top-selling item was a 3-year-old Belgian Gelding which sold for $2,600. A team of 3-year-old Geldings sold for $2,000 each.
Nineteen stainless steel and aluminum milk cans were offered with the top bid at $160 each and the bidder took four of the cans. The 15 remaining cans were sold again and brought $170 each and the winning bidder took them all.
A round band saw sold for $375. According to Raber, this saw was 2 feet in diameter, had handle bars to grip, had a flex shaft that a motor or engine could be hooked up to and could be used to cut firewood. Raber was surprised at the price it brought and said it is an unusual item to find in a sale.
