Beat the diet yo-yo with new approach through hospital

YOUNGSTOWN – St. Elizabeth Health Center is beginning a new session of its Slim Down classes in Sept.

Slim Down, a six-week program taught by clinical nutrition professionals, provides a positive approach to permanent weight control through the development of healthy habits.

The program is personalized to help individuals identify and reach their goals as well as develop a maintenance plan.

Four locations. Slim Down sessions begin Sept. 2 , at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. at HM Home Care, 5211 Mahoning Avenue in Austintown; at 1 :30 p.m. at Humility of Mary Health Partners Business Development Office, 4964 Belmont Avenue in Youngstown; at 3:30 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Health Center, 1044 Belmont Avenue in Youngstown; and Sept. 3, at 7 p.m. at The Assumption Village, 9800 Market Street in North Lima.

Menus and recipes, along with weekly exercise and behavior modification techniques are provided.

Diets will be individualized to incorporate diet restrictions for such things as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, vegetarian, and food allergies.
