Butler County to hold trio of natural gas events

BUTLER, Pa. — Penn State Extension, Butler County Community College and Butler County Chamber of Commerce will hold three events March 4, 5, and 6 for three different audiences regarding regional shale gas development.

On March 4, a workshop entitled “Leasing Legal, Financial, and Our Water: Beyond Basics” will be offered for property owners and the community members.

The event will be from 7-9 p.m. Reservations are required by calling the Penn State Extension office at 724-287-4761. A $10 fee will be charged at the door.Speakers will include Attorney Kris Vanderman, Lori Jackson, XTO Energy, and Bryan Swistock and Jon Laughner, with the Penn State Extension Shale Education Team.

On March 5 from 6-8 p.m., there will be a dinner with guest speaker Matt Henderson, Penn State MCOR, for municipal officials regarding shale development and Act 13.Reservations are required by contacting the Butler County Chamber of Commerce at 724-283-2222. A $15 fee will be charged at the door.

The agenda

Speakers include Mel Bliss, public safety training facility coordinator, Lori Jackson, XTO Energy, and Susan Boser, Penn State Extension educator.

On March 6 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., a mini-business Expo, “Supply Chains: Doing Business with the Shale Gas Industry” will be offered for business owners.

A lunch with guest speakers Bud Schuffstall, Northwest Savings Bank and Lori Jackson will be the highlighted. Reservations are required by contacting the Butler County Chamber of Commerce at 724-283-2222.A $10 fee will be charged at the door. For exhibitors, there is a $100 fee for an exhibit table and lunch.
