Coshocton dairy showmen win big

COSHOCTON, Ohio – Brian Gwin of Dalton, area program consultant for Genex Cooperative Inc., judged Holstein, Jersey, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, Ayrshire and Milking Shorthorn cattle for the Coshocton County Junior Fair dairy show.

Holsteins. As usual, the Holstein breed had the largest number of entries. Rick Lahmers showed the senior champion and reserve senior champion and grand and reserve grand champion Holsteins.

Lahmers aged cow was named grand champion, while his 2-year-old cow was named reserve grand champion.

Neil Duncan had the junior champion Holstein. Emily Hothem had the reserve junior champion Holstein.

Brown Swiss, Jersey. Rick Lahmers also showed the senior and grand champion Brown Swiss, a 3-year-old cow. Cherish Cunningham had the reserve grand champion and junior champion Brown Swiss.

Seth Cunningham showed the reserve junior champion Brown Swiss.

In the Jersey category, Todd Lahmers showed the senior and grand champion, his junior 2-year-old cow.

The senior 2-year-old cow of Travis Sheldon was named reserve senior and reserve grand champion Jersey.

Travis also had the junior champion Jersey, while Crystal Raber had the reserve junior champion.

Ayrshire, Guernsey. In Ayrshire judging, Ashley Pritchard’s 4-year-old cow was named senior champion and grand champion , while her aged cow was named the reserve senior champion.

Neil Duncan had the reserve grand champion Ayrshire and junior champion Ayrshire. Ashley Pritchard had the reserve junior champion.

Tyler Zimmerman showed the senior and grand champion Guernsey. Tiffany Zimmerman showed the reserve grand champion Guernsey.

Tyler Zimmerman also had the junior champion Guernsey, while Tiffany Zimmerman had the reserve junior champion.

Milking Shorthorn. The senior and grand champion Milking Shorthorn was shown by Alyssa McMullen.

Susannah McMullen showed the reserve senior and reserve grand champion Milking Shorthorn.

Showmanship. Dairy showmanship classes were held after the dairy judging.

Winners, in order of finish were the following: senior, Travis Sheldon; junior, Brandon Cunningham; first year, Brandon Bowles; supreme, Neil Duncan; and old timers, Maureen Pritchard, Nancy Lahmers.
