WARREN, Ohio – David Frew will bring his Lake Erie shipwreck slide presentation to the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren Oct. 3 at 6:30 p.m.
The program will focus on the sinking of the 241-foot long steamship Gerken on Aug. 20, 1926, during a ferocious gale on central Lake Erie.
Frew’s book, “Kiss of the Devil Wind,” details this Great Lakes disaster.
A professor of organizational behavior at Gannon University (Pa.), Frew is the author of 20 books. His books on maritime history of central Lake Erie have won regional and national awards.
