District III show names top Holsteins

DOVER, Ohio – Sixty head of registered Holsteins paraded the ring at the District III Open Invitational Holstein Show held June 19 at the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds.

Ted Renner of Dalton, Ohio, was the judge.

Taking grand champion female at both the junior and open shows was Spreng La Ivory Veness, owned by Springway Farms, William Burkhart Jr. and family of Magnolia, Ohio. She was also named junior 3-year-old champion and intermediate champion female.

She was sired by Spreng La Highlight Ivory and shown by Katy Burkhart.

Second-place junior 3-year-old Lah-Dale Durham Tarez took reserve grand champion female of both shows. She is a daughter of Regancrest Elton Durham and owned by Lah-Dale Holsteins, Dave Lahmers and family of Stonecreek, Ohio.

Todd Lahmers showed the cow.

Senior champions. Tapped for the purple ribbon as senior champion female of both the junior and open shows was Lah-Dale Stoneham Almond, first-place 4-year-old.

She is also owned by Lah-Dale Holsteins and was sired by Richesse Stoneham. She was shown by Rick Lahmers.

Springway Rudolph Rhyme, owned by Springway Farms, took reserve senior champion female of both shows. The 5-year-old was sired by Startmore Rudolph and shown by Nathan Burkhart.

Junior show. In the junior show heifer classes, Oakvale Durham Beatty was named junior champion. The fall calf was shown by Brittany Young of Sugarcreek, Ohio.

Reserve went to Mors Merchant Magnet Katy, first-place winter heifer calf. She was shown by Trealayne and Jenneil Holsteins, Steve Specht and family of Dover, Ohio.

Open show. In the open show heifer classes, the junior champion was Mors Integrity Charles Lucy, a summer yearling shown by Morlock Farms of West Salem.

Reserve junior champion was Ben-Ali Durham Niece. The fall yearling was shown by Ben-Ali Holsteins, Roy Mangun and family of Burbank, Ohio.

Bull. The grand champion bull was Rogalin Jet Lee, the first-place yearling bull shown by Roger and Joe Kiko of Carrollton, Ohio, and sired by Bridon Astro Jet.

Premier breeder and exhibitor went to Hardingdale Holsteins.

Showmanship. Showmanship contest winners were:

* 13 and younger: 1. Allison Mangun, 2. Allison Janes, 3. Todd Lahmers.

* 14 and over: 1. Julie Harding, 2. Kristin Fisher, 3. Jarod Harding.
