BRUNSWICK, Ohio — Farm Credit Mid-America, an agricultural lending cooperative serving farmers, rural residents and agribusinesses throughout Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee, hosted a northeastern Ohio regional advisory meeting March 26 at Mapleside Farms in Brunswick, Ohio.

The meeting brought together Farm Credit’s 65 advisers from the area, who are customers and community influencers whose thoughts and opinions help drive Farm Credit’s policies.

Agenda

The agenda included a look back at 2012 presented by CEO Bill Johnson, a roundtable discussion of local foods and farm advocacy, and a farm bill discussion with Congresswoman Marcia Fudge, who serves on the House Agriculture Committee.

Fudge explained her practice of sharing the views and priorities of farmers in the region with the group.

Johnson’s discussion included sharing Farm Credit’s accomplishments in 2012, including increased earnings, crop insurance business, conversions and community giving.

The meeting also included information about the 2013 board of directors election and the construction of a new Sugarcreek office, which is expected to begin in the next month.

David Benavides, regional vice president for Farm Credit in north central Ohio, hosted the meeting along with Bill Zuga, regional vice president for Farm Credit in north eastern Ohio.
