Farming as a side job

The millennial generation is eager to try farming, as reported by The American Conservative.

Part of the ambition to start farms stems from the increased popularity of organic and locally-grown foods that consumers are anxious to buy. However, new farmers don’t always anticipate everything that comes along with farming.

In Virginia, the Virginia Cooperative’s Extension’s office in Loudoun County, Virginia Tech and the Loudoun Department of Economic Development are encouraging young adults to keep their day jobs while trying out farming on the side. The three groups also organized a program that helps to guide people new to the farming business.
