Festival photo contest still taking entries

CHARDON, Ohio – Area amateur photographers are invited to submit entries for the 74th Geauga County Maple Festival’s photo contest by April 19.

Photos may be entered in any of the four categories: maple, nature, people, and animals.

The entry fee of $3 is required for each photo entered. Color and black and white photos will be judged in the same category.

Criteria. Entrants may submit up to two entries per category. All entries must be 8-by-10 inches or 8-by-12 inches, unframed and unmounted.

Each photo must have the photographer’s name, address, phone number and category on the back of the entry.

The Festival board reserves the right to use entered photos for festival promotion material.

Prizes. Cash prizes and gift certificates for the contest winners are being donated and are redeemable at Photo Express in Chardon.

First place winner in the maple category will receive $100 cash prize and $30 cash prize in each of the other categories.

Second place winners will receive a $20 cash prize plus a free enlargement. Third place winners will receive a $15 gift certificate from Photo Express.

Entry. Drop off points for all photo contest entries include Photo Express, 220 Center Street, Chardon or the Geauga County Extension Office, 14269 Claridon-Troy Rd., Burton.

Photo entries will be displayed during festival weekend, April 24-27 in storefront windows.

Winners will be announced April 22 and the prizes will be awarded on April 27.
