BURTON, Ohio — The Swingin’ Hams 4-H club met Sept. 9. This was the first meeting after this year’s great fair, and members reviewed activities and accomplishments there.
The club donated approximately 400 pounds of meat, two pigs, to Geauga County Job & Family Services.
Members elected officers for the 2009 year: president, Matt Bruening; vice president, Leanna Praetzell; secretary, Robby Praetzell; treasurer, Gina Long; news reporter, Tracey Teichman; health officer, Katie Bruening; safety officer, Ben Bruening; recreation officer, Josh Dasch; snack officer, Nick Bruening.
Members will be part of the clean-up crew at the buyer’s dinner Sept. 27, at 7 p.m. at Century Village.
SALEM, Ohio — The Highland Achievers 4-H club met Sept. 13 at the home of Lynn and Brenna Wagoner.
Head adviser Lynn Wagoner announced the club has eight new members, five of whom were new to 4-H. Members also showed nine state fair projects and earned three county top awards, plus the club received outstanding at the state fair on its community service project.
The club also earned first place on its fair booth and float.
Members are currently involved with a county military support service project. Anyone interested in helping or wishing to turn in other service members’ names, may contact Julie Snyder at 740-501-4517.
Individual humorous club awards were then presented to each member.
Members were encouraged to save tuna/pet food cans for next year’s fair for the rabbit barn.
Safety officer J.J. Andrews presented the club with an educational tour idea. On Nov. 15, members will tour an area fire department with Ed Long.
Potential dates were discussed for another benefit rummage sale at Kilbourne United Methodist Church and Christmas tree trimming activity at Bennington Glen Nursing Home.
