BROOKFIELD, Ohio — Rabbits were tattooed during the Brookfield 4-H Friends club meeting April 2. Mrs. Meredith, the new poultry board leader, spoke.
Emily and Jade Bailey showed their snakes, which included a 6-foot-long albino Ball Python.
General and small animal interview judging will be June 22. The livestock sale will be July 4.
The Trumbull County Fair will be held June 27 through July 5.

SHREVE, Ohio — The Clinton Lads ‘n Lassies were to hold a trash pick up April 14, however, it was rained out and a meeting was held at the fire station at 7:30 that night.
Sam Weeman led Four Corners, a recreation game. Logan Meier gave a health and safety report on eating smart and Sara Wolf gave a demonstration on how to properly measure dry and liquid ingredients.
Diane Gress showed the club different decorations on cakes and Eileen Gress gave a demonstration on how to make a leather belt.
Code of Conduct forms, health forms and project sign-ups were to be turned in by April 15.
The participants in State Dairy Judging were recognized, and an announcement on Dairy Quiz Bowl was made by Lisa Gress. For more information call 330-567-3417.
The trash pick up was rescheduled for May 5 at 5:30 p.m. at the Gress farm.
Announcements about 4-H camp, sewing clinics and a cooking expo were made.
All officers and advisers must attend the Officer and Advisor Conference May 4 at the Career Center to be initiated for 2009-10.
The next meeting will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 28 at Triway Lanes for a bowling night.
The club will pay for the first game and after that members must pay for each subsequent game.
WOOSTER, Ohio —The Wayne County 4-H Dairy Judging team traveled to Columbus for the Spring Dairy Expo Dairy Judging contest.
Results were as follows: Junior Division, individual: Logan Meier, second place and Brennan Topp, seventh place; Junior Division, team: second place; Intermediate Division, individual: Tanner Topp, first place; Allison Mangun, third place and Diane Gress, sixth place; Intermediate Division, team: first place; Senior Division: Eileen Gress, first place; Tyler Topp, fourth place and Tessa Topp, tenth place; Senior Division, team: first place; Senior Division, Oral Reasons: Eileen Gress, second place; Tyler Topp, fifth place and Tessa Topp, seventh place.
ORWELL, Ohio — The Mustang Wranglers 4-H horse club had its regular monthly meeting April 11 at Saddles Etc. and Gift Shop, 8220 Route 45, Orwell.
Stephanie Mason, senior member, and Natasha Sobie, junior member, were on the horse bowl teams representing the county at the State Horse Bowl Competition April 4 in Columbus. Both teams were in the top 10 counties.
Members attended educational clinics at Equine Affair in Columbus and had the opportunity to meet Craig Cameron of Extreme Cowboy Race TV show.
Demonstrations were given by Katrina Kingdom on how to tell a healthy foal, Stephanie Mason on conformation and Hannah Propst on Missouri Fox Trotters.
Area educational seminars and horse shows were discussed. Parts of saddles and bridles were studied. All 4-H enrollment papers have been received.
The members enjoyed an Easter egg hunt.
The next regular meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. May 9 at Saddles Etc.
BOWERSTON, Ohio — The Silver Spurs met April 8 at the Bowerston Public Library with 16 members present.
The Easter candy orders were filled and passed out to members. Adviser Jennifer Host said the fundraiser had been quite successful.
There was a brief discussion about designs and colors for the club’s shirts.
Danielle Shively did a presentation about hoof care and hoof parts, Lacey Shuss gave a presentation on sheep wool and Ashley Host did a presentation on hoof care.
The Silver Spurs met again April 17 at the library with 12 members present.
An animal clinic was held from 12:30-7:30 p.m. April 19 at the fairgrounds.
Tag-in is from 8-11 a.m. May 9, Skillathon is June 20 and still project judging is June 22.
Members discussed, voted on and ordered club shirts for the fair this year.
Jack Shuss did a presentation about Emerald ash borers in Ohio and Sara Shuss did a presentation on good pygmy goat characteristics.
Emily Shuss gave a presentation about wholesale and retail cuts of beef and Joseph Shuss did a presentation on ear notching in pigs.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. May 3 at the Bowerston Public Library.

CARROLLTON, Ohio — The East Township Young Producers met April 15 at Saint John’s Hall with 21 members in attendance.
Officer training will be held May 20 and the club will participate in the health walk at the fairgrounds the same day.
The club’s annual trash pick up will be held at 2 p.m. April 26.
Demonstrations given included: how to clean a cut by Chelsea Frase; how to make chocolate chip cookies by Brooke Hawk, Nicole Trimble and Rebecca Gromely; how to brand a cow by Clay Pidgeon; gun safety by Jacob Roberts; poisonous plants by Maggie Mapes and how to not let uninvited guests spoil your picnic by Emily Bryan.
The club’s next meeting will be held at the Carroll County Fairgrounds after the health walk at 6:30 p.m. May 20.
NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio — The Milkmakers 4-H club met April 13 at Jerusalem Church at 7:30 p.m. with 25 members present.
Chris Finton, president, called the meeting to order with the pledges. Amie Zumbach did the roll call and read the minutes from the March meeting, and Colton Harstine gave the treasurer report.
The annual cheese sale will begin April 28 and run until May 11 with the cheese coming from Yaggi’s Cheese House in New Philadelphia. Plans are being made to purchase T-shirts and/or hoodies for the club.
The decorating committee has made plans for a meeting to talk of different ideas for the fair at adviser Sheila Mutti’s home.
The club talked about meeting dates and are making plans for a special program June 27 at 11 a.m., with the meeting being held at Amy and Sara Donato’s farm.
Demonstrations were done by C.J. Lanzer on “mastitis of a cow,” Chris Finton on “different cow clippers,” Kurt Finton on “quick release knot and how to put a rope and show halter on” and Ryan and Lauren Powell on “common calf diseases and how to treat them.”
The next meeting will be May 11 at 7:30 p.m. at Jerusalem Church.
AURORA, Ohio — Members of Creatures-N-Features 4-H club elected new officers. They include: Cora Joy Carson, president; Michaela Ritz, vice president; Whitney Makekau, secretary; Ben Dunkin, treasurer; Megan MacIntyre, reporter; Madelyn Victor, historian; Connor Bowen, health officer; Sara Bowen, safety officer and Emma Jane Carson and Kaitlin MacIntyre, recreation officers.
Nineteen members participated in archery at The Hunters outlet in Suffield.
The club visited the Gardens of Western Reserve where they shared their pets with the people who live there.
Four members, Michaela Ritz, Whitney Makekau, Kaitlin MacIntyre and Megan MacIntyre, participated in a window decorating contest promoting 4-H week.
These members decorated the window of Streetsboro Chiropractic using the theme “4-H Will Shine in 2009” and were awarded a second place ribbon.
COLUMBIANA, Ohio — The Guilford Go-fers 4-H club met April 13 at Jerusalem Lutheran Church.
The meeting’s theme was science and members split into groups and at different stations made flubber, mini lava lamps and mini volcanoes and explored static electricity.
The next meeting will be held May 19.
