BURTON, Ohio — The Geauga Dairymen 4-H club met July 9 at Hastings Dairy. All members were required to participate in the Skill-A-Thon July 13 at the Geauga Fairgrounds.

The members reviewed a few final pages to be complete in their Project Record Books.

It was announced the Lake County Captains are hosting 4-H night Aug. 12. The Safety Poster Contest are due Aug. 16.

The club discussed the three fans purchased to keep the animals cool at the fair. Members finalized the design and color for the club T-shirts to be worn during the fair.

The club voted to purchase milkshake coupons for potential dairy basket buyers. The members discussed assisting in the Farm Bureau booth during the fair.

The next meeting will be held Aug. 4. During the August meeting, club members will work on fair entry forms, buyer letters and practice showmanship with their animals.

NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio — The 2013 Tuscarawas County 4-H demonstration contest was held July 9 at the First Christian Church, in New Philadelphia. The first, second, and third place winners in the Junior Division, and the first and second place winners in the Senior Division will compete at the Ohio State Fair July 31.

Junior division first place winner was Jonah McGlumphy, of Stone Creek, member of Stonecreek Peas & Carrots. Second place winner was Aden Smith of Dover, member of St. John’s 4-H. Senior division winners were Taylor Troyer, of Sugarcreek, in first place; a member of New Horizons. Second place winner was Michala Metzcar, of Zoarville, member of Atwood Lakers.
