BURTON, Ohio — The Breeders & Feeders met May 18 at the Patterson Center in Burton.
The club started with a business meeting and went over new and old business. Ryan Ivans, the safety chairman, gave a presentation on bike safety.
After the business meeting, members completed the quality assurance.
Matt Peterson, the assistant adviser, presented the 10 good production practices. Members also learned by playing quality assurance bingo.
The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. June 29 in the school exhibit building in Burton.
NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio — The Tusky Valley Farmers 4-H club met June 12 at Zoar Road Gun Club.
T-shirts can be ordered at the next meeting, which will be held at 7:30 p.m. July 3 at the club. Members will also finish their demonstrations at the next meeting.
Members were reminded of the showmanship clinic for poultry, rabbits and goats at the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds June 26. There will also be tips on completing record books and how to be prepared for judging. There is no cost, and no RSVP is needed.
Demonstrations given June 12 were: showing hogs, by Lauren Blakney; showing rabbits, by Bailey Parrott; and a baking project comparing varieties of cookies and chocolate milk, by Josiah Peffer, who used the demonstration to provide refreshments.
Election results were: Lauren Blakney, president; Cale Zeigler, vice president; Jessi Zeigler, secretary; Clay Zeigler, treasurer; Tyler Charton and Micaliah Peffer, reporters; and Hunter Zeigler and Josiah Peffer, recreation.
Members should bring pictures and registration for small animals at the next meeting.
BURTON, Ohio — The Swingin’ Hams Swine 4-H Club met June 3 in order to go over Geauga County Fair preparations.
After members provided meeting reports and signed up for committees, new business was discussed. Topics included fundraisers, buyer thank-you gifts and the club’s project posters.
Swingin’ Hams also chose its nominees for the Geauga County Junior Fair King and Queen Court: Bryan McCaulley and Leanna Praetzel.
The next meeting will be held July 8.
BURTON, Ohio — The Totally Dogs 4-H club met June 10 at the Patterson Center, located on the Geauga Fairgrounds.
During the meeting, members discussed old business; the previous training activities; and the great turnout at the Working Dog Weekend at Lake Farm Park.
New business included discussing training sessions; puppy matches (qualifying shows); and the project judging and skill-a-thon to be held from 9 a.m. to noon June 26 at the junior fair building in Burton.
After the business was discussed, President Krista Lupas and Vice President Taylor Wilkes talked about how to properly groom dogs for the fair.
Following this, the club advisers gave a demonstration on dog safety.
WINTERSVILLE, Ohio — The Country Classics met June 18 at the Steubenville Saddle Club with 24 members present.
Demonstrations were given by six members.
It was reported that eight members and two Cloverbuds attended the county contest day. Seven members are on the Jefferson County Hippology Team that competed June 16 in Columbus. Emily Lamantia, Mara Carducci and Laney Karkoska placed in the top 10 individually.
Three new members joined the club.
Future plans include a car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 19 at NAPA in Wintersville.
The next meeting will be held at 7 p.m. July 16 at the Steubenville Saddle Club.
NORTH JACKSON, Ohio — The Jackson Milton Livestock Club met May 29.
Many dates were announced, including the quality assurance make-up date July 23, and the Ice Cream Social July 24 at the experimental farm.
The club also discussed participation in the North Jackson Fourth of July parade.
CORRECTION: The Trumbull County fair clean-up day is June 28, not July, as reported in last week’s report from the Brookfield 4-H Friends.
