CORTLAND, Ohio — Several members of the Brookfield 4-H club visited Starr Manufacturing in Vienna, Ohio, June 21 to present a plaque to Andreas and Dale Foerster for sponsoring 4-H.

There will also be a sign honoring the company in the Trumbull County Fair poultry barn.

Brookfield 4-H club used the donation to purchase all members one project book and the cost of having poultry pollurum tested.

WINONA, Ohio — The Lone Ranger 4-H club held its meeting June 10 at the Winona Friend Church. Austen and Taylor Holderbaum demonstrated how to make fluff stuff.

Taylor did a horseback presentation and Austen did a gun safety presentation. Bridget Kelly did a hog demonstration and Jake Althouse talked about chickens.

June 16 is the last dairy beef feeder clinic. Livestock book judging is July 14 at the fairgrounds. Project Fair is July 21 at United Local High School.

The next meeting is July 8, and it is a swim party. Boys should bring drinks and girls should bring a small snack. Members are also asked to bring pictures with their projects for the fair booth, and items for the silent auction basket. This year’s theme is hunting and fishing.

CORTLAND, Ohio — The Trumbull Co. 4-H dairy judging team is preparing for the upcoming fair. Members cleaned and painted the barns and made signs for the pens. They had interview judging June 18.

NIMISHILLEN TOWNSHIP, OHIO — Needle & Brush 4-H Club met recently. Members gave updates on their projects.

Amanda Janecek gave a demonstration on clipping goat hoofs and trimming rabbit’s nails. Sarah Raber gave a demonstration on fabric and pattern selection and Lauren Fessler gave one on poise and posture.

County updates included Cloverbud Day Camp; Clothing Judging and Style Revue on July 10; Extravaganza, Foods and Nutrition, and Cloverbud Judging on July 14.

Member’s style revue forms are due July 1 and all junior fair animal entries are due July 27 to the junior fair office. Chick pick-up is July 17 from 4:30-6 p.m. at the chicken barn at the fairgrounds.

The next meeting will be July 8 at the adviser’s home.

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Eight members of the Zane Trace FFA chapter recently attended the first session of Ohio FFA Camp. The camp took place from June 4-8 at Camp Muskingum near Carrollton, Ohio.

During the camp session, Zane Trace members donated $250 to Children’s Hospital through the Pie in the Eye activity.

Each Zane Trace member was allowed to throw a whipped cream pie in the face of their favorite adviser, state officer or camp staff member in the event which raised over $1200 total for Children’s Hospital.

WAKEMAN, Ohio — The Shining Clovers 4-H club held its fifth meeting of the year May 20 at Dalton Park in Wakeman. Officers shared information they learned from attending the Officer training held in Norwalk. Discussion was held on the Wakeman Homecoming/Fireman’s Festival activities. There was discussion on how the club will participate in the “Stuff the Bus” community service. The bus will be moving around town Aug. 3 and Aug. 4 for school supply donations.

Micah Smiley, McKenna Woodruff, and Cobey Kromer volunteered to work together on a skit for the 2012 Health and Safety Speaking Contest June 19.

Hannah Burke provided a demonstration on tie-dying a shirt, Sarah Walton demonstrated making a crafty gift and Brianna Reep demonstrated acro. Next meeting will be June 24 at 3 p.m. at Dalton Park in Wakeman, Ohio.
