CARROLLTON, Ohio — The Kangaroo Krew 4-H club met May 15 with 12 members in attendance.
Members discussed the homecoming parade, the fair booth and sending a thank you card and donation to Jenkins Feed and Supply for letting the club use their space for its rabies clinic.
Members worked on project books.
The next meeting will be June 5. Project book work will be done and members are asked to bring their blue books.
CARROLLTON, Ohio — The Sharp Shooters 4-H club met May 16 with 27 members in attendance.
Members discussed getting their books ready for judging, gathering volunteers to work the shooting trailer at the Mechanicsburg homecoming and a T-shirt design.
Members need to wear long pants, good shoes and gloves for the trash pick up.
Lela Hicklin gave a demonstration on string weaving and Dakota Hay gave a demonstration on how to build a volcano.
Health and safety talks were given by Rebecca Donley on shooting safety, Timothy Griffin on archery safety and Dakota Hay on safety precautions of building a volcano.
The next meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 6 for the trash pick up. Members should meet at the Brown Township Sportsman’s Club.
CARROLLTON, Ohio — The Guys and Gals 4-H club met May 17 with 9 members in attendance.
Members discussed the livestock book judging July 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., selling cookie dough and members were told not to lose their Quality Assurance cards.
Health and safety talks were given by Chase Horn on swine flu, Shawn Bailey on worms and football safety, Brittney Host on swimming safety, Seth Rutledge on lawn safety and animal infections and Brandon Bailey on four-wheelers.
The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. June 21 at the home of Shawn and Brandon Bailey. Members will discuss fair business.
CARROLLTON, Ohio — The East Township Young Producers 4-H club met May 20 with 28 members in attendance.
Members discussed ideas for the fair booth, the annual lock-in, which will be held June 19, T-shirts will be ordered at the next meeting, entering a planter in the fair flower planter contest and the rules in the blue book.
Members did a 4-H health walk.
The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. June 19 at St. John’s Hall for the lock-in. Members will work on projects and the fair booth.
CANFIELD, Ohio — The Beaver Zippers, in their first meeting, elected new offices:
President, Katie Stanwood; vice president, Cana Carr; secretary, Rebecca Haag; treasurer, Carly Zilavy; news reporters, Emma Carr and Carly Zilavy; recreation, Alyssa Swank; health, Sarah Hartzler; and safety, Sarah Swank.
Club members are planning fair projects and developing a booth display.
NORTH JACKSON, Ohio — The Jackson Milton Livestock 4-H Club met May 11. The candles from the candle sale, conducted by Kristin Higgins, were delivered.
A swimming party was held at the Salem Community Center in April. A make-up Quality Assurance will be held June 16 at the Millcreek MetroParks Farm from 6 to 8:30 p.m. A skillathon will be held at the same location from 7 to 9 p.m.
A 4-H night will be held at the Scrappers June 24, and the club will present a float at the North Jackson Fourth of July parade.
The next meeting will be 7:30 p.m. June 18 at the Jackson Township Building.
SALEM, Ohio — The Stockmen’s Market Livestock 4-H Club met May 26. A market and feeder steer meeting will be held at Dr. Sanders’ house 7 p.m. June 4. All beef feeder calves must be weaned by June 15.
For anyone that did not attend the March Quality Assurance, a make-up Quality Assurance and Skillathon will be held June 9, beginning at 6 p.m.
A mandatory meeting will be held July 9 at the Experimental Farm in Canfield, Ohio, to sign up for projects and to hand in buyers’ sheets. No late entries will be accepted. An ice cream social will follow the meeting.
Anyone 16 and older is encouraged to work at the tractor pull concession stand July 10, beginning at 7 p.m. All money earned will be donated back to the 4-H club.
The next meeting will be held at Pay’s at 7 p.m. June 23.
