BURTON, Ohio — The Breeders and Feeders 4-H group met and divided into groups. Depending on species each group did something different.
The youth showing poultry watched a video on preventing the spread of disease and went over a packet on poultry housing and care.
Club members who are showing beef projects at the fair studied for skillathon.
The members showing rabbits/cavies went over showmanship and parts of the body.
And those showing swine this year worked in their workbook.
Liesel Fenstermaker gave a health report on animal stress. The group learned that the fair advisory comity is selling 4H flags for $15. The group added to the club constitution that all project books will be collected at the end of the year. We also added that no member can miss over half the meetings.
The group plans on going bowling June 24.

May 12: Camp Whitewood has camper roundup
May 12: Mandatory quality assurance 10 a.m. at the fairgrounds
May 19: Swine tagging at the fairgrounds 8-10 a.m.
May 20: We will be visiting Briar Hill, Holly Hill and Burton Healthcare for community service.
June 1: nominations for fair king and queen are due
June 15: Scholarships for 4H camp are due
July 7: Miscellaneous project judging
July 8-14: 4H camp at Camp Whitewood
July 21: project judging

WINONA, Ohio — The Lone Rangers 4-H Club held their meeting on April 15 at the Winona Friends Church.
A report was given by members who helped with the Winona Ruritans Pancake Breakfast. It was decided the club would have a project booth at the Columbiana County Fair, and donate a fishing and hunting basket for the silent auction.
Hannah Jarvis gave a demostration on animal safety. Sarah Jarvis, Shelby Peters and Marlee Ziegler did a cooking demostration on how to make dirt pudding. It was reported that Jarod and Von Herron participated at the county health and safety speech contest, Von placed 3rd in the junior division. The club trip to Kennywood will be in August. The next meeting will be held on May 20.

BURTON, Ohio — The Totally Dogs 4-H club put on a benefit dinner and silent auction April 20 with the proceeds to benefit the Geauga County Dog Warden and the Geauga County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit. A profit of more than $6,500 was split between the dog warden and the K-9 Unit.
The dog club also marched in the Maple Festival parade both Saturday and Sunday. The club members will soon begin their formal training of both members and dogs for the Great Geauga County Fair.
