BERLIN CENTER, Ohio — Members of the Western Reserve Rangers 4-H club received literature for Junior Camp at 4-H Camp Whitewood in July during the club’s May meeting.

Adviser Bob Day, of Berlin Center, gave a motivational talk on how 4-H develops leadership and public speaking skills. He demonstrated how 4-H has helped all five of his children in their careers.

Levi Smith reported that the County Junior Leader 4-H Club was planning several activities, including a trip to Noah’s Lost Ark in Berlin Center this summer.

4-H Queen Melissa Moliterno reported on the 4-H County Fashion Board meeting and preparations for the County Style Revue in July. The Fashion Board recently took a trip to the Southern Park Mall in Boardman and collected clothing for charity.

Health Leader Karl Reph educated the members on hydrating yourself during the summer.

It was announced Jena and Erin Styka of Canfield were selected to represent Mahoning County at State 4-H Leadership Camp in August.

EAST CANTON, Ohio — The Happy Farmerettes and Farmers 4-H Club of East Canton held a meeting May 10.

The meeting was led by Renee Greathouse, president. She brought the meeting to order.

The minutes for the previous meeting were approved. Haylee Gallo gave a health report on the importance of having enough calcium in your diet. And Olivia Maurer gave a safety report on wild animals and urging members to avoid petting them because rabies is very rampant this time of year.

The members were encouraged to think of some kind of demonstration relating to their project and presenting it at the meeting. Cloverbud camp will be 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 21 at the fairgrounds. Sign up sheets will be sent email.

The Cloverbuds enjoyed making bunnies out of a hand towel and two wash clothes.The next meeting will be held at 7 p.m. June 14.

BURTON, Ohio — On May 6, Sew Sew Sweet 4-H club members made cosmetic bags to send to Woman’s Safe. Members filled the bags (which were sewn place mats) with everyday needs like hand lotion, toothbrushes/toothpaste, and different varieties of gum.

The next meeting will be June 2.
