MILLERSBURG, Ohio — The West Holmes FFA Parliamentary Procedure team competed in the Sub-District and District contests in November.
Members of the team include President Linsey Howell, Vice President Tyler Schonauer, Secretary Cynthia Bunch, Reporter Kiersten Sigler, Sentinel Brant Duncan, Treasurer Tori Carpenter, Student Advisor Garrett O’Donnell and members Paul Skolmutch, Casey Schlauch and Derek Reutter.
The team placed first and qualified for the state contest Dec. 20.
This was also the first year the club had a Beginners Parliamentary Procedure team.
The team competed against other Parliamentary Procedure newcomers from their Sub-District, and placed first in the contest.
Members of the team include President Tori Carpenter, Vice President Derek Reutter, Secretary Casey Schlauch, Treasurer Caleb Chaney, Reporter Casey Ernst, Sentinel Travis Campbell, Student Adviser Maggie Raber and members Garrett O’Donnell Chris Neville and Kayla Chandler.
JEROMESVILLE, Ohio — On Dec. 4, the Hillsdale FFA Chapter placed first in the Sub-district Senior Parliamentary Procedure Career Development Event.
The event was held at Hillsdale High School and involved four teams: Hillsdale, Firelands, Mapleton and Wellington.
The team consists of Hannah Fulk, Erin Ebert, Jeff Stimmell, Kelsey Haas, Michael Shuck, Kelsey Clark, Kelsey King, Brittani Baldner-Hill, Sara Tallmadge and Mackenzie Stimmell.
The team will compete at the district level.
CRESTON, Ohio — The Norwayne FFA members participated in the District Parliamentary Procedure Contest at Northwestern High School Dec. 8.
Team members include Tricia Bauman, Eric Billman, Ryan Billman, Kirk Gasser, Mark Geiser, Derryck Hartong, Ben Mangun, Andrea Gasser, Abigail Winkler and Jacy Theiss.
The team placed second at the district competition and will compete at the State Contest Dec. 20.
WEST SALEM, Ohio — The Northwestern FFA Student of the Month for November was Jessica Wellert, daughter of Kim and Sherri Wellert.
Wellert is the chapter sentinel and the Safety Committee chairperson. She enjoys indoor and spring track, soccer, is a member of the National Honor Society, Husky High Achievers, Youth4Youth Organization, Northwestern High School Band and is active in her church youth group.
Wellert participates in Parliamentary Procedure, Soil Judging, General Livestock Judging, Job Interview, attends Advanced Leadership Development Conference, National Convention and helps with community service projects.
MILLERSBURG, Ohio — The West Holmes FFA hosted the District 8 Agricultural Communications and the Food Science Career Development Events Nov. 12.
Teams from River View, Smithville, Ridgewood, as well as West Holmes, participated in the Agricultural Communications contest and in addition to those schools Tri-Valley, Indian Valley and Buckeye Trail participated in the Food Science contest.
The West Holmes Ag. Comm team of Linsey Howell, Mac Golemo, Kiersten Sigler, Brooke Landon, Caleb Chanay and Jared Zollars placed second in the district.
Individually, Linsey Howell was third, Mac Golemo placed sixth, Kiersten Sigler was eighth, Brooke Landon was 11th, Jared Zollars placed 12th Caleb Chanay placed 16th.
By placing second at the district level the team earned the privilege to compete at the state contest Dec. 6 and placed seventh.
This was the first year West Holmes fielded a Food Science and Technology team, and the team performed above and beyond their experience level.
Members of the team, which placed fourth at the District 8 contest were Shelly Crider, Maggie Raber, Kristi Crabb and Kelsie Hoover.
GNADENHUTTEN, Ohio — The Indian Valley FFA held its annual holiday food drive for Thanksgiving.
The FFA students delivered the food baskets to area families for Nov. 25.
The FFA has held its food drive annually for more than 11 year.
This year the Indian Valley High School and Middle School worked together to collect the food.
The total for the middle school was more than 600 pounds of food.
This year the high school has a great competition. Winning it out in the end was the homeroom of Mrs. Diane Bell with a new school record of 1039.4 pounds of food.
Coming in second place was Miss Jessica Tucker’s homeroom class with 362.501 beating out Mr. Zachary Gardner and Mrs. Jan Leatherman with 361.937 pounds of food.
This year total collected was more than 3,000 pounds of food.
The FFA was able to help 60 families.
