BARLOW, Ohio — The Warren FFA chapter has begun its officer team election process. Applications were due on Dec. 15.
There are 10 positions on the officer team to be filled including: president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, reporter, student adviser, sentinel and three committee chairs.
The first vote will be at the January meeting, where members will choose the top six candidates to be put on the officer team slate.

ASHLAND, Ohio — This past holiday season, the Mapleton FFA participated in the Adopt-A-Family Project and sponsored four families for their holiday meals.
The chapter poured a concrete slab in its pole barn. The students graded the floor, then replaced the soil with stone in preparation for the concrete. The students applied a broom finish to the concrete, and sealed the concrete the next day.
The students would like to pour another section of the barn next year when they earn enough money from their crops.

WATERFORD, Ohio — The Waterford FFA chapter’s parliamentary procedure team recently competed in three different contests that lead them to becoming one of the best parliamentary procedure team in the state of Ohio.
The team placed second at the sub-district contest at Warren High School and placed first at the district parli pro contest at Alexander High School.
The state contest was held Dec. 17 at The Ohio State University-Main Campus. The team placed second in their heat, ranking the team in the top ten in state. The Waterford parli pro team consisted of Megan Whalin, Samantha Hall, Katrina Ford, Allison Adams, James Whalin, Jessica Coulter, Blake Campbell, Autumn Hendershot and alternate Breanna Grahame. The team was coached by Matthew Hartline, adviser.

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio –Montana Fry, a freshman member of the Zane Trace FFA chapter, was recently awarded an Animal Systems Grant from the national FFA to help fund her supervised agriculture experience program.
The $1000 grant will be used by Montana to improve her small swine operation. She plans to construct a small farrowing barn and purchase a bred gilt to begin a small herd of pigs. Eventually she hopes to raise her own market hogs to show and sell at the Ross County Fair.

WATERFORD, Ohio — The Waterford FFA Chapters Parliamentary Procedure Team recently advanced to the state Parli Pro Contest for the ninth year in a row.
The state contest was held on Dec. 17 at The Ohio State University-Main Campus. Twenty teams advanced to the state contest out of approximately 200 teams from across Ohio.
At state, during the preliminary round, teams are split into five heats consisting of four teams for each heat and the winner of each heat advances to the finals. The team placed second in their heat, ranking the team in the top ten in state.
The Waterford Parli Pro Team consisted of Megan Whalin, Samantha Hall, Katrina Ford, Allison Adams, James Whalin, Jessica Coulter, Blake Campbell, Autumn Hendershot and alternate Breanna Grahame.
