ASHLAND, Ohio — The Crestview FFA chapter took a group of 20 members to the 85th annual Ohio FFA Convention. On the way down, the chapter stopped in Crestline, Ohio, to tour Sunrise Cooperative, a grain marketing and supply cooperative. The company also operates six full service agronomy locations, as well as a 3 million gallon liquid fertilizer plant, located at the plant.
At the first session of the convention, the chapter received recognition for its donation to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and was recognized for its contributions to the Ohio FFA Foundation.
Chapter member Abby Motter was recognized for receiving a gold rating on her reporter’s book.
Six Crestview FFA members received their state degrees: Bree Crider, Tyler Motter, Gretchen Sauder, Garrett Searl, Shiloh Stuart, and Lance Witmer.
On May 14, the chapter held its annual Food for America program to teach third-graders about agriculture and its role in feeding the world. The students got to visit different stations that were led by members. Some of the activities included tractor use and safety, greenhouse, shop safety and using power tools safely and correctly, agriculture education in the classroom, and even a petting zoo of farm animals.

JEROMESVILLE, Ohio — The Hillsdale FFA chapter traveled to Columbus to attend the 85th Ohio FFA State Convention May 2-3.
Four members received State FFA degrees: Colton Burkett, Taylor Slater, Bryce Payne and Jacob Stitzlein.
Hillsdale students competed at the convention in Career Development Events.
The Hillsdale FFA poultry team placed sixth at nationals. The team members include: Matthew Zimmerman, who placed 12th individually; Philip Pearson, 20th; Megan Miller, 23rd; and Eric Pickering, 25th.
Keayla Harr was the only individual who qualified for general livestock finals and she placed 11th individually.
Bryce Payne received the Reporters Award for getting a gold rating. Keayla Harr received a $440 scholarship for the Washington Leadership Conference.
The agricultural sales team received its first place banner for winning the state competition.

MILAN, Ohio — The Edison FFA had its seventh annual tractor show and car cruise-in May 18. Donations, a silent auction and a donation by Modern Woodmen of $700 raised a total of $4,083 with all proceeds going to the FFA schaolarship funds and the charity of Abigail’s Angels.
Throughout the day, activities were going on such as, kiddy tractor pull, human tractor pull, height and distance hay toss, tractor polo, slow tractor race, and the barrel race. The activity was a success having over 50 tractors and numerous cars cruising in and out during the day.

WATERFORD, Ohio — Blake Campbell, of the Waterford FFA, was elected to serve as a state FFA officer for the 2013-2014 school year May 3 at the 85th Ohio FFA State Convention.
Campbell was elected to serve as next year’s District 10 President and is one of 16 state officers elected to representing 23,000 Ohio FFA members statewide.
Campbell will begin his year of service with training sessions where he will meet and get acquainted with the remaining state officer team members, learn about his responsibilities, and plan and set goals for the upcoming year.
Campbell will receive additional training at the National Leadership Conference for State Officers (NLSCO) with state officers from other states.
Campbell is the son of Joe and Bridget Campbell of Waterford.
