BEVERLY, Ohio — The Fort Frye FFA food and science team received second place at the district competition Nov. 15. Members of the team are Kylie Seese, Chelsey Schott, Jessi White, Charity Roberts and Jessie Murphy.
GNADENHUTTEN, Ohio — Indian Valley FFA junior and senior parlimentary procedure teams went to districts Nov. 22. Both the teams recieved second in sub-districts.
The senior team consists of Cassie Glazer, Coryden Enochs, Alex Cotsmire, KaraLin Gray, Ashley Decker, Dalton Spowl, Matt Dauch and Tessa Mitchel. The junior team consists of Dalton Sprowl, Matt Dauch, Tessa Mitchel, Austin Tukosh, Austin Gardner, Sarah Fowler, Hannah Peeper and Tiffany Shalosky.
CRESTON, Ohio — Norwayne FFA members met Nov. 7 at the old Norwayne Middle School to listen to a speech given by former state FFA president, Amy Jo Frost.
Members heard about her experiences as an education research intern at the World Agro-Forestry Centre, and she described in detail her trip to Kenya with two other Ohio State University students.
Her goal was to develop a program in the Kenyan schooling system that would instate a mandatory course on the uses and necessities of trees within the society. While in Kenya, she was able to go around to 10 schools to interview students, teachers, and parents of students in the community.
WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — The Miami Trace FFA is holding its annual fruit sale through November. The fruit sale helps the chapter raise money for students to go on trips and for freshmen to receive their FFA jackets.
Products include different fruits such as apples, grapefruit, oranges, and sell other items like calendars, and this year a cookbook composed of recipes from FFA families.
If anyone would like to purchase any fruit from the FFA contact the ag department at 740-333-4760.
WOOSTER, Ohio — Members of the Triway FFA chapter met Nov. 14.
During old business, the motion to have hoodies for members of each committee was rescinded.
A report was provided on the veterans’ breakfast that was sponsored Nov. 12 by the FFA chapter. Thirty-two veterans attended.
Members voted to donate $75 to the Camp Muskingum Nature Building project. It was also decided that the chapter would continue its Adopt a Family project.
The chapter will also be participating in the “Have a Heart” canned food drive, the annual cookout and bowling party, and potentially creating a countywide FFA square/line dance.
Members also voted to provide cookies, chips and drinks for other chapters participating in the parliamentary procedure contest, as well as pizza for themselves.
