WELLINGTON, Ohio — The Wellington FFA chapter began its fruit sale Oct. 18. Citrus, red and yellow apples, nuts, fruit baskets and Deb Yummers barbecue sauce will be available.

The sale ends in November and the citrus will come in around the Dec. 10, and the fruit baskets will be in around the Dec. 17. Talk to Mrs. Thome or call the school at 440-647-3734 about fruit sales.

BERLIN, Ohio — Hiland FFA members participated in the fifth-grade farm tour Sept. 26. During the tour, members assisted the Soil and Water Conservation District and helped at the five stations: wildlife, farm safety, farming, soils and soil snacks. They also helped with lunch preparation.

After the event, chapter members helped clean the area. Members included Jessica Davis, Megan Hippert, Rachelle Yoder, Taylor Raber, Brandon Kozak, Mac Cordle, Grant Mast, Lee Shetler, Victoria Lotut, Preston Shamp and Javan Scheufler.

MINERVA, Ohio — The Minerva FFA fruit sales will go through Nov. 19. The club will be getting the fruit through Blue Freedom Markets. This year they will be selling fruit, cheese and meat.

In addition, Minerva FFA also recently attended the Fall Festival where students had a petting zoo. This allowed young children to be able to pet and learn about animals that they may have not seen before.

ASHLAND, Ohio — The Crestview FFA held its annual chicken barbecue Oct. 5. More than 85 FFA members and five alumni members helped with this fundraiser. The members cooked 700 halves of chicken in three hours and served 680 of those halves in two hours.

The Crestview FFA uses its own barbecue sauce on the chicken and went through 1,000 pounds of charcoal to cook them. Members also prepared potatoes, green beans, and 60 pans of brownies that were included with the meal.

Top sellers of barbecue meal tickets were Jessie Spoerr, Bailey Walter, Shiloh Stuart and Lance Witmer.
