CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Some Zane Trace FFA members attended the Ross County Farm Bureau annual meeting, held Aug. 27. The chapter was represented by members Kevin Daubenmire, Taylor Stacy, Karlee Daubenmire, Olivia Pflaumer and Nathaniel Freeman.
This marked the fifth year for the chapter to attend the meeting, during which current agriculture issues are discussed and voted upon by county Farm Bureau members.

MINERVA, Ohio — The Minerva FFA set up a booth for the Stark County fair Aug. 29. The students who attended were Beth Eglie, Bryce Fankhauser, Abbie Greer, Enrique Gonzales, Kaylee Kovach, Jessica Jordan and Ida Eglie.

SMITHVILLE, Ohio — Smithville FFA member, Brandon Sugg, was selected to compete for national recognition in the Dairy Cattle Handlers’ Activity, Career Development Event at the 88th National FFA Convention. Sugg will demonstrate his showmanship ability as well as his ability to control dairy cattle.

MILLERSBURG, Ohio — The West Holmes FFA will have five American Degree recipients this year from its ranks. This degree is the highest degree that an FFA member can earn.
Recipients are Clay Armstrong, Beth Klein, Grayson Miller, Mandy Taylor, and Dustin Niehaus. They will be recognized at the National FFA convention Oct. 28-31 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Chapter member Justin Lorentz recently received a gold rating at the national level, the second highest rating an applicant can receive.

Lorentz specializes in turf grass management and is the owner of Lorentz Lawn Care and Landscaping. He started out working five lawns, but now has 32 lawns.

He plans to attend Ohio State University’s Agricultural Technical Institute to pursue a career in turf grass management and landscaping.
