ASHLAND, Ohio — The Mapleton FFA general livestock team recently placed at several competitions.
The team won the Mount Gilead contest, with Jared Wynn taking first and Billy Keener placing 16th. Garrett Canfield also competed.
The team also took a trip to the District 1 contest in Fulton County. Wynn once again placed first, while Canfield and Keener placed 44th and 45th, respectively.
The team was represented in greater numbers at the state preliminary contest. At this event, the team earned a team placement of 46th of 157 teams. Individually, Wynn had the highest placing of the Mapleton team, taking second.

GNADENHUTTEN, Ohio — Indian Valley FFA recently held its annual strawberry sale. The FFA students sold 353 1/2 flats of strawberries, for a total sale of $4,758.75.
The top salesmen earned bonuses for their effort. Top seller with 45 flats was junior Shelby Schupp of New Philadelphia; she earned a $30 bonus. Second place went to junior Wendy Myer of Uhrichsville, who earned a $20 bonus for selling 39 flats.
Third-place salesman with 23 flats sold was freshmen Dakota Huebner of Gnadenhutten, who earned a $10 bonus.
Students who sold more than five flats earned a $1 commission for each flat of strawberries sold.
The chapter’s net profit for the sale was $864.75.
Students who sold more than 20 flats of strawberries earned a $100 scholarship toward this summer’s FFA camp at FFA Camp Muskingum. Scholarship winners were Shelby Schupp, Wendy Myer, Dakota Huebner and Kari Westbrook.

MILLERSBURG, Ohio — Several West Holmes FFA chapter members recently competed in the state FFA contest in Plain City, Ohio.
The ag sales team of Nikole Hanna, Tyler Schonauer, Cynthia Bunch and Jared Zollars placed 13th.
Olha Demchun and Emma Brewer represented the chapter in the job interview contest. Demchun placed 6th in division VI and Brewer also took 6th in division III.
Katie O’Donnell was the chapter’s lone proficiency state finalist this year. She placed fourth.
Chapter members also recently competed in the state judging contests and spring career development events. Members of the horse judging team were Nikita Brown, Kristi Crabb and Steph Kick. The team placed 17th of 114 teams.
The dairy judging team of Katie O’Donnell, Tyler Schonauer, Paul Skolmutch and Emma Brewer placed 22nd of 66 teams.
In April, the chapter is planning district officer training and the annual banquet.
